On Tuesday 13th January the Supreme Court will hearing further representations regarding the matter of R (on the application of Hemming (t/a Simply Pleasure Ltd) and others) v Westminster City Council.

We first reported on this case, which has potentially huge impact on Council's abilities to levy fees for licensing services and specially enforcement costs, on the 18th May 2012 when the High Court ruled in favour of the Applicant and ruling fees paid by Simply Pleasure Ltd to Westminster over several years to be unlawful and ordered them to be repaid.

A subsequent appeal to the Court of Appeal was dismissed and the Supreme Court will now reconsider the issues.

We shall keep you updated.
